Our story
Six decades, three generations of owners.
In 1962 Bill Hryciuk opened M+K in a small building on the main street of Marysville. After almost 20 years the company moved to Cranbrook.
In 1987 Ed and John Zirk, a father and son, bought M+K. They started as a team of four, including Bill, and grew it. In 1995 John and his wife Cindy bought out Ed’s shares. Under John and Cindy the company became the East Kootenay’s largest mechanical company and added sprinkler systems, air conditioning and engineering.
In 2006 M+K moved to Slater Road. Roy Needham, who had apprenticed under Bill starting in 1989, came back to the company in 2012. In 2015 Roy and Jim Larson, who had already worked at M+K for eight years, became the partners as the Zirks retired.
